This course concentrates on secure access solutions to networked service applications like web (SSL), mail, dns,… Frequently proxy devices are being deployed to add security features (authentication, authorization, anti-virus, anti-spam,...). We will zoom in on a BlueCoat versus a Squid (+ SquidGuard) solution. We will deal with virusses and the integration of anti-virus and spam filtering (eg No Spam Today, Clamwin). An important aspect in securing your site is availability. To avoid a single point of failure, network devices like servers, firewalls, routers,...can be mirrored. Moreover a good data backup strategy has to be in place (as a demo we will use Bacula network backup). We will deal with (centralized) Logging, Log analyzer/monitoring/reporting tools, Incident Handling tools & procedures. Remote Login (VPN) is another important topic in a security strategy which will be discussed (the CIFV course is going deeper into the implementation & technological aspects). Finally a Security Awareness program should complement a security project so that every user in an organisation is involved in the security proces. In this course, hands-on & demo’s complement the theoretical foundations. Take your seat in this 2day security trip!
