There is no need for an independent security industry ? Information security practitioners should innovate business.
08-Apr-2008
"There is no need for an independent security industry,” according to Art Coviello, President RSA the Security Division of EMC. During his keynote speech at the RSA Conference, he addresses the need for the Information Security practitioners to think beyond the protection. Instead of saying “no this is not secure”, they should investigate more into the “how” to secure it. Mr. Coviello calls both the regulators and technology development companies to think in the same direction.
LSEC is happy to find that one of the leading companies in the Information Security industry concentrates his key message to its business partners, government and the industry at large on concentrating efforts to promote the use of Information Security concepts, procedures and technologies towards enabling of business rather than the mere protection and keeping the bad guys out. This is completely in line with our own
diversity of events and information publishing. “Thinking Security, whereby Information centric security is a reality.” This way security in the end becomes an accelerator of innovation.
Whether this could really happen without a Security Industry in itself, we are taking not for granted. Only by looking at the existence of the physical security industry, this business continues to prevail and innovate itself. We believe the same is true for the Information Security industry.
Let’s innovate, according the Art (as in Coviello or as in the practition) of Security ...
