NTKI - the need to know internet
09-Jun-2010
Kim Cameron, the Chief Architect of Microsoft’s Security Division proposes the concept of a Need-to-know-Internet, as the model for the future.
The military model might become an interesting point of view for the future. Only on a need to know basis. Only when essential, and even then Internet operates on behalf of all actors. Leaving personal information should only be required for transactions; Contextual linking when using internet websites should be opt-in. Compliance requirements and systems must be isolated from the natural identity. Audit requirements should be made proportiate to context. Audit information only to auditors, not weaken overall internet security and privacy.
