LSEC Global Security Week with superb speakers, interesting views on the evolution of the security market and technologies
12-Sep-2008
Today, Friday September 12th is the final day of LSEC’s Global Security Week. A busy week full of activities, great speakers, a lot of
interested attendees and excellent discussions on topics such as CyberCrime and how to prevent from becoming a victim of it.
The week started with the announcement of the Belgian newspaper that some of the websites of the Belgian Federal Government were not safe, with an example. That was true, no doubt about it. The referenced website luckily reacted quicky and put an alternative website promptly online. Hackers beware, the potential interest in those sites will be closely monitored by the authorities.
The point however, was that the LSEC suggested in close collaboration with ISACA, ISSA, ISO working group members, CETIC, Cluster TIC, K.U. Leuven and Solvay Business School an Information Security Strategy for Belgium. Urgent actions such as installation of a Belgian CERT, the development of a Belgian Information Security Body, improved certification and legislation, awareness programs and education are the main axes for further work.
The day continued ... (TBC)
