UCL Crypto Group
UCL gathers some thirty researchers in cryptology and IT security with backgrounds from microelectronics, computer science, networking, telecommunications, and mathematics. This wide diversity of knowledge that covers three research groups (Crypto Group, IP Networking Lab, Crypto/Security Team) makes the UCL a worldwide leading academic institute in IT security.
The UCL developed, through its fundamental and applied activities, a strong expertise in cryptography and security that includes physical attacks and countermeasures on hardware devices (smart-cards, RFID, FPGAs, ASICs), efficient implementation of cryptosystems, design and analysis of cryptosystems and protocols, elliptic curve and identity based cryptography, formal foundations of cryptography, zero-knowledge identification, authentication protocols, RFID security and privacy, privacy enhancing technologies, secure networks, voting systems, spam analysis, etc.
Beyond its strong commitment to academic research (more than 250 international security-related publications since 2000) the UCL is intensively involved in collaborations with industrial partners, in projects, consulting, and training activities. Collaborations address for example the design of innovative solutions and business applications, the evolution of security technology, including the design of the next generation of RFID tags, smart-cards, sensor networks, privacy preserving systems and more secure networks. The UCL is also an active member of several standardization committees in IT security.
